In the dead of winter when very few people where thinking of the New York Cosmos, the Cross Island Crew was hard at work doing various things to prepare for the upcoming 2014. Whether it was recruiting members, helping the team at events, shredding paper or looking for ways to promote the team, there really was no off season for the Crew. One of the things that the crew set out to do was find smaller media outlets who had an established following to partner up with. One of those such finds was LIB Magazine. The name of the magazine says it all – Long Island Based Magazine, however to keep it simple their official name is LIB Magazine. The objective of the magazine is to provide material and information to Long Islanders so that they never have to say “There is nothing to do in Long Island”.
When we first looked at their site and saw their coverage on the New York Islanders and the Brooklyn Nets (yeah I know they aren’t Long Island), we quickly envisioned the Cosmos and the Cross Island Crew fitting into their plans. These folks have a high powered and motivated staff who’s work is inspiring and very entertaining. Some of you might have already met their Cosmos correspondent Nicole Russo, who will be interviewing players this year as well as covering events involving the Cross Island Crew. When you see the LIB microphone or camera around make sure to show them your Five Points spirit so that the whole world can see that the New York Cosmos have the best fans in the world.
I’ll be doing game recaps throughout the season for LIB Magazine. In the link below you will find my first. The show stopper however is their video segment that they did on the opener. You will find great footage here on all of the groups in the Five Points as well as great game footage and some interviews with your New York Cosmos.
Expect great things in 2014 from LIB Magazine and of course, your Cross Island Crew!.
Here’s their first video on the New York Cosmos from Sunday’s opener!
