The New York Cosmos delivered a strong preseason performance and put on a fantastic show for the soccer fans in Hong Kong on Thursday. This was not the first time the Lunar New Year Cup went to penalty kicks, and the match delivered a lot of high quality soccer including superb goals from Sebastian Guenzatti and Andres Flores as well as the first ever goal by Raul in a Cosmos jersey.
Although it was the first preseason game for the New York Cosmos, the match was in no way downplayed by fans around the world who stopped their day to watch the Cosmos. Fans around the world tuned into the match thanks to the coverage that ONE World sports provided both on their cable channel and via live stream on their website. With the Cosmos constantly stating that one of their goals was to once again be a global brand as they were in the 1970s and 1980s, Thursday’s fan response shows that they just might be on their way to accomplishing that once again.
