GAMEDAY! All You Need To Know For A Busy Day In Cosmos Country!

By Cesar Trelles – 10/4/2014
There is no better feeling than waking up and knowing that its game day! For me, waking up on game day give me feelings of heading down to the stadium right away as opposed to waiting til later in the day!

But patience first – especially today. Cosmos Country will have a very busy day on hand. Here is a quick run down of everything you need to know to successfully navigate the day!

The Five Points supporters groups have always held a pre game tailgate prior to every home game. This week we are calling special attention to the tail gate and in doing so you might walk away with a nice little gift. The New York Cosmos have been encouraging the #RallyToRepeat hashtag as a push to make a strong bid at the post season. In conjunction with that them and hashtag, the Cosmos are giving out free t-shirts to anyone that attends the tailgate this week. A very nice gesture indeed. The Cosmos will be handing the shirts out however only at the following times:

6:00pm – 6:15pm
7:15pm – 7:30pm

You will find a rough design of the t-shirt below.

But wait, don’t just grab a shirt and run! The Five Points pride themselves on being the most passionate of New York Cosmos fans. Did you know that we are ALWAYS looking for new members to be part of the Five Points? While you’re at the tailgate getting your shirt, stay a while and enjoy the food and drink that is to be had at the tailgate. Typically we have our sponsor Prost Grill & Garten providing food but today they will be unable to attend. However, the Five Points are cooking up their own tailgate and if you want to attend, we encourage you to do see. In case you didn’t know, the Five Points are made up of three supporters groups. Here is a little bit of information below:

Don’t know where our tailgate is? You can find us in the small parking lot located behind Social Kitchen on outside of the west side of the stadium. See the location as indicated by the green arrow in the graphic below:

For season ticket holders that have renewed their plan for 2015 and who have RSVPd to the invite that was previously sent out, there will be a special Question and Answer session with NASL commissioner Bill Peterson and Cosmos COO Erik Stover. The Q&A will take place at Margiotta Hall on the South side of Shuart Stadium. Check in time for the Q&A will be 6:30pm and will promptly start at 6:45. Remember this is for season ticket holders only who have renewed their seats for 2015 and participated in the early pay program. If you have not already RSVPd for the event you will be unable to attend.

Tonight’s match against the Indy Eleven will begin at 8:00pm. This match is extremely important for the Cosmos as they have been unsuccessful in ever beating the Indy Eleven. Indy is the only team that can make this claim and would like nothing more than to keep the Cosmos from winning. The Cosmos also need three points tonight is they are looking to improve their post season hopes. Currently they sit in third place in the combined points standings. While the fall championship is looking unlikely, they do have a chance to grab the second place spot in the overall points total standing. To do that they are going to have to take as many points the rest of the way.

The Cosmos will be giving out pink scarves in support of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Awareness. A version of the scarf is shown below by captain Carlos Mendes below. The first 4,000 fans to enter the stadium will receive those scarves.

Don’t let the rainy weather keep you at home today! The weather is supposed to clear out in the afternoon and it should be a great night weather wise! Come on out to support the Cosmos in their Rally To Repeat!
