This afternoon the New York Cosmos reached out to their fans to bring them up to speed with respect to questions they may have concerning the club. Cosmos COO Erik Stover was scheduled to be on hand for the Q&A but fell ill at last minute and was unable to attend. Director of Marketing, Rafael Morffi was schedules to be there and ended up conducting the entire Q&A session by himself. As a consummate professional, he decided to do the Q&A in a town hall type setting which turned out to be a nice chat with the fans in attendance. Approximately 40 fans filled Prost Grill & Garten in Garden City Long Island and got their chance to clear the air on their Cosmos.
Of the topics discussed during the Q&A were of course updates on the proposed Elmont stadium, what marketing efforts the Cosmos are taking to promote the team, knowledgeable Cosmos reps at team events, TV deals and several others. This was the first time that the club gave themselves complete access with the fans and they vowed to do more of these Q&A sessions in the future. Following the Q&A session most of the fans stuck around to watch the Cosmos take on FC Edmonton. The match ended in a draw 1-1 with the Cosmos managing to escape Edmonton with a point. Danny Szetela would score the lone goal for the Cosmos.
Here is audio of the Q&A held today followed by some pictures from the Q&A and the viewing party.
