With the season thus far not panning out the way New York Cosmos fans might have expected, this Saturday could provide the impetus needed to make a push towards glory in November. Minnesota United FC is headed to New York and they look to continue their dominance over the NASL in 2014 by notching a win on the road against the Cosmos. Game time this Saturday will be 7:00pm.

While a victory for the Cosmos could provide a spark towards igniting a rally into the end of the season, Saturday will already be a fun and busy day in Cosmos Country for their fans.

Here’s a quick run down of the day for any and all Cosmos fans who are looking to get in on the action Saturday.

7th Annual NYC Supporters Cup
The Five Points, the supporters of the New York Cosmos, have assembled a soccer team and will be competing against other supporters groups in the 7th annual supporters cup. For more information about the supporters cup and the Five Points involvement in the cup, visit our article here. While this event will not involve actual representatives of the New York Cosmos or its players, it is a great way to spread and support the Cosmos brand in front of several soccer fans in the heart of New York City. The first match for the Five Points will start at 8:50am. All matches will be taking place at Pier 40 in Hudson River Park in Manhattan. You can find the complete schedule of matches here. The Supporters Cup is expected to be finished by 2-3pm in the afternoon.

New York Cosmos Pregame Tailgate
If you happen to be at the Supporters Cup, head on over to Penn Station once the tournament is over and hop on the next LIRR train headed to Mineola. From there you can hop on the FREE shuttle provided by the Cosmos to get you to Schuart Stadium by 5pm so that you can partake in the Five Points Pregame Tailgate . Not at the supporters cup? Not taking the train? Not part of the Five Points? No worries – we welcome everyone at every tailgate so come on down! General parking is located in the lot next to the tailgate at a rate of $10 per vehicle. The tailgate itself is sponsored by Prost Grill and Garten in Garden City and they proudly serve delicious hamburgers and brats along with fine german beer for a small suggested donation. What better way to get ready for a huge soccer match then to enjoy some food and beer just steps from the stadium. Tailgate starts at 5pm and runs right up until game time and is situated in the parking lot right behind Social Kitchen (1002 Hempstead Turnpike, Hempstead, NY 11553).

NASL Game Of The Week – New York Cosmos vs Minnesota United FC
Its game time and the boys in green and white need this game badly. Three points against Minnesota United, coupled with an Atlanta Silverbacks win in Texas against the Scorpions puts the Cosmos right back into the race for the fall. This weeks game is also the NASL Match of the week and will be shown on ESPN 3. If you’re coming to cheer on the Cosmos come loud and proud so that everyone can see why Cosmos supporters are the best in the league! As a special added bonus, the first 2,500 fans to enter the gates will receive a free team poster.

Halftime – Cosmos Girls & ALS Challenge Taken By The Five Points
By now many of you have seen or been part of an ALS ice bucket challenge. The Five Points were challenged by none other than the New York Cosmos themselves to take the ALS ice bucket challenge. At halftime, a small number of the Five Points Supporters group will take the challenge on the field in front of the Five Points banner. Who will the Five Points nominate to further take the challenge remains to be seen! Also, as there always is at halftime, there will be an on field special dance routine performed by the Cosmos girls. Never a dull moment at a New York Cosmos match!

Meet & Greet The Team (full season ticket holders only)
Following the match against Minnesota United, full season ticket holder only will be treated to a special meet and greet with the New York Cosmos team. A special treat for being a full season ticket holder and a great way to end a long day of being a New York Cosmos fan!

My wish for this Saturday being the Cosmos fan that I am? A great run by the Five Points in their first ever Supporters cup followed by a great showing at the pregame tailgate, followed by lots of money raised for ALS, followed by three points won by the Cosmos and my Cosmos jersey autographed by the entire team!
