After having a positive week of training, the New York Cosmos are on the eve of clashing with Minnesota United FC at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium on Saturday. The team needs a result that would earn them three points and those points are always bigger when they are against the first place team.

“We’re going to see a team tomorrow that’s going to be eager to work very hard” predicted head coach Giovanni Savarese after the team’s workout on Friday. “We put a lot of effort and work into trying to get the result that we need. The guys had a very good week, so the guys look very prepared and ready to play the match.”

The Cosmos will need a strong performance from everyone on the pitch on Saturday as they looked somewhat out-hustled last weekend against Tampa Bay. Further, they will be without the services once again of Marcos Senna who has developed a knee injury this week. Also unavailable for Saturday’s match are Diomar Diaz (quad injury) and David Diosa (ankle injury). All three players are expected to back to train next week. All other players should be eligible to make the 18 man lineup that head coach Giovanni Savarese will select.

What’s your projected starting eleven now that Diaz, Senna and Diosa will not be playing? Leave that in your comments below!

  1. Me gustaría probar con Ayoze más adelantado: Maurer, Freeman-Mendes-Ockford-Roversio (o Gorskie); Guenzatti, Szetela, Nane, Ayoze, Johnson-Denisen

  2. Bernabe-buen hecho! Gracias por la respuesta!

  3. A home match against a top club is where the Cosmos Shine. Rising to the Challenge of NYRB in the Open. This is the biggest home match since then

  4. Hey Steve – they came close and if they wouldn’t have drawn that red card five minutes in, they might have pulled off the win!

    • Grabbing the draw helps as well. both Tampa and FTL losing and falling behind another point.
MNU has played great all season. A win would have been huge but a draw against them is a reasonable result.
Cant do that at home against clubs below them in the table though
