US Open Cup Match Preview
New York Cosmos V.S Philadelphia Union ( US Open Cup Match)
Time : 7:00
The Cosmos will travel to Pennsylvania to face the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer at PPL park for a U.S Open cup match. Roversio and Hans Denissen are expected to be fit to play in the match. Head coach Giovanni Savarese revealed on Monday afternoon that Marcos Senna is still not fit for match play. Additionally, he commented that Diomar Diaz, fully healed from his hamstring injury, is not expected to be on the roster for Tuesday’s match.

With Roversio back in the lineup, the squad will look stronger than the one against the Red Bulls. This is the Cosmos 3rd U.S Open Cup match thus far this season.

A look at the Philadelphia Union-
Defeated the Harrisburg City Islanders to set up a date with the Cosmos in the fifth round of the US Open Cup

Cosmos Player to Watch-
Mads Stokklien, who has been great all season but he had been a spectator in the Open Cup until he scored two goals against the Red Bulls. Stokkelien always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

The Cosmos back four has been great and only allowed 3 goals during the NASL Spring Season. With Roversio back they will look stronger and it is going to be hard for the Union to get past that brick wall of Cosmos defenders.

A Player that is on top if his game is Jimmy Mauer who is probably one of the best goal keepers in the NASL.

Should the Cosmos defeat the Union they would advance to the quarter finals of the US open cup and would host either the Rochester Rhinos (USL Pro) or the New England Revolution at St John’s Belson Stadium on July 8th at 7:00pm.

The Cosmos supporters will be traveling to PPL Park so big shout to the “Five Points” (La Banda del Cosmos , Cross Island Crew and Borough boys). You guys will be the 12th man on the field. As always they know they will have to be loud because we are a part of COSMOS COUNTRY!!

  1. Should the Cosmos beat the Union the game will not be at Hofstra. I imagine there is a scheduling conflict or it could really have been a very big crowd should they advance.
Living right here 10 minutes from PPL park if all things are a go I should hopefully be at the match.
For those cosmos fans coming it is 20 bucks a ticket and 30 for club seating
