The pictured excerpt appeared in the the NY Newsday this morning. With proposals submitted to the Empire State Development Corporation a long time ago, many thought that we would see an announcement soon on the future of the Belmont development area.
This past weekend’s Belmont Stakes saw 100,000 people come and go to the area for the final leg of what was a hopeful Triple Crown attempt. Unfortunately California Chrome was unable to capture the Triple Crown however my point here is minus some delays with the LIRR after the match, the neighborhood handled 100,000 rather smoothly. I mentioned the delay in the LIRR, should I also mention that if the Cosmos plan is approved that there is a part of their proposal that would help re-develop the LIRR station at Belmont?
I have said time and time again that this proposal is a win for all involved. However if this morning’s excerpt in the Newsday is any indication of where we are with the proposal approval, we may be waiting til November to hear an announcement. Perhaps the citizens of Cosmos Country should take some time during the NASL break to write a quick letter to Governor Cuomo and sway him to make his mind up. November isn’t that far off, but we have already waited long enough. Perhaps it could be that Governor Cuomo is waiting for another Soccer Bowl ceremony to make his announcement? I didn’t buy that either.
