On Friday, the New York Cosmos announced contract extensions for two more returning players from the 2013 NASL Championship team. Peri Marosevic will be back with the team in 2014 as he will come back as a striker for the Cosmos. Peri started several matches but was utilized off the bench more for the Cosmos during the second half of last season. He managed to log over 450 minutes for the team in 2013. Further, he scored two goals for the team in the reboot year. His first goal of the season will always be remembered by Cosmos fans as it was the first goal of the reboot era in the 44th minute on August 3 against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers. His second goal was a huge goal as well as it came on September 29 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. That goal would be the first goal of the match in what would be a thrilling 4-3 come from behind victory for the Cosmos.
In addition to signing Marosevic, Bulgarian striker Stefan Dimitrov was also granted a contract extension with the team. Dimitrov started several matches for the Cosmos and logged over 850 minutes for the team on the pitch. While Stefan, only scored one goal during the season during a Cosmos 2-1 victory against San Antonio, he played a pivotal part for the team in the month of October where he had three assists for the team, each of which came in separate matches. Dimitrov is also one of the few Cosmos that still remain with the team dating back to their first re-birth back in 2011. Dimitrov also participated in the Cosmos match against Manchester United. Both look to play a vital role in defending the title for the Cosmos in 2014!
