Cosmos Fans, in case you didn’t know, your team has made the Soccer Bowl in their first season back in the NASL. On the heels of a dramatic come from behind win Saturday night against the San Antonio Scorpions, the Cosmos clinched their trip to Atlanta with a 2-1 win! Congrats to the Cosmos for clinching the top spot the NASL. Some of you have waited 30 years to attend a Soccer Bowl and now the time has come. So where do you start to plan your trip? Here’s a little help on getting there, where to stay and anything else that is Atlanta!

I’ll be updating this throughout the next 2 weeks to help make the Cosmos Fan’s trip to Atlanta a bit easier!

The Soccer Bowl will be played in Atlanta’s Silverbacks Park on Saturday November 9th at 7:00pm. Silverbacks Park is located in North East Atlanta.

The NY Cosmos released information on Monday 10/28 regarding tickets. That information can be found by clicking here

Here are some more details before you buy your tickets:

*As mentioned in the team’s message about tickets, you must tell the Silverbacks that you are a Cosmos Fan. The team has reserved two sections for Cosmos Fans- sections 107 & 108. One section is a seated section while another is standing room. There are only a total of 600 seats in these two sections combined. If you miss out o. Getting seats in these sections you can get tickets in other sections of the stadium but it likely will not be near Cosmos fans.

*If you’re driving to the game a parking pass is strongly suggested. There aren’t many parking spots by the stadium and alternate parking is a considerable walk. Plan ahead.

*The Silverbacks have VIP set up for the day. For an extra $50 there will be catered food there which will represent specialty food items representing each of the teams around the NASL including the expansion teams slated to start play next year. Also the VIP tent will have an open bar. Your VIP pass will give you access 2 hours prior to the match and an hour after the match.

Now that you have your tickets or at least know to get them, how are you going to get there? Here are some options:

Delta Airlines has the most flights that go to Atlanta on a daily basis. However as of the writing of this article- airfare is on the expensive side. If you are looking to fly up on Friday and return Sunday the price is running at $437 per person. Best thing would be to check the many websites out there like as well if you insist on flying.
Just a quick FYI – Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 30 mins from the Silverbacks Park. Something to consider if you will be taking a cab from there.

BUSES – If you do not want to shell out the bucks for airfare and you have some extra time to spare, Greyhound has busses whose trips are 20 hours in length. You can score a ticket for as low as $134 round trip! Browse their site here for different departure dates and departure times.

Lets be honest, you’ve been cheering your Cosmos all year and you’re ready to make the ultimate testament that a true fan makes and travel all the way to Atlanta to watch your team. Why not make it a road trip? Take a few friends, load up your car and hit I 81 or 95 to Georgia!
Estimated travel time is about 13 hours. But of course this is all relative to how quick you drive and how many stops you make. Mileage is about 900 miles. Keep in mind that a round trip would mean 1800 miles. You’re looking at about 5-6 tanks of gas on your average car. The more people on your trip, the less out of pocket!

There are many different types of hotels in Atlanta. However as you can see, Atlanta is a pretty large city. i checked with the Sivlverbacks last week and their preferred hotels are located in the Perimeter-Dunwoody sections of Atlanta. There are several hotels in this area of Atlanta all varying from inexpensive to luxurious. My favorite site to use has always been Trip Here’s a link to the site with the search already loaded for “Perimeter, Atlanta”.

Don’t worry either. The NASL announced a deal last week where they announced that the game would be carried on ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes. AS long as you a cable subscription that includes these channels then you should be able to watch the game in the comfort of your home!

I myself expect to make it to Atlanta some how. I hope to see a lot of Cosmos Fans representing their team in the 2013 Soccer Bowl!
